Electro-Thermal Energy Storage (ETES) from MAN Energy Solutions is a highly efficient trigeneration energy system, providing heating, cooling and electricity on demand to a variety of industries.

This state of the art Industrial Heat Pump technology is scalable, carbon-neutral and ideal for large district heating and cooling networks. ETES can help to balance the grid by absorbing surplus renewable power and feeding it back into the grid on demand. 

MAN ETES is a large-scale, flexible Heat Pump solution that addresses many of the challenges involved in reducing CO2 emissions and increasing renewable energy production – by coupling of the electricity, heating and cooling sectors.

The ETES Heat Pump is based on a transcritical CO2 cycle (R744 as refrigerant) enabling hot supply temperatures up to +150°C and cold down to -20°C.

At the heart of the system is MAN’s HOFIM® compressor with integrated expander – a compact, quiet, all electric, hermetically sealed, High speed Oil Free Integrated Motor compressor (2 to 14MWe), enabling up to 50MW hot-side thermal output per unit. 

HOFIM® compressor technology is based on proven, reliable, low maintenance Oil & Gas standards with over 100 references and offers significant power savings compared to conventional Heat Pump systems, for better efficiency and flexibility.
